A Glove for the Snowman

Max found a wet paw print beside the basket where he kept his gloves. His red glove was missing. He looked at Patch, asleep on the rug.

'Max, come outside!' called his sister.

Her snowman stood beside the gate, waving with a red woollen hand. Max opened his mouth, then waved back.

'I needed something bright,' she said.

Max took off his other glove and held up both bare hands. His sister looked from his fingers to the snowman. She replaced its glove with a ribbon and gave it back.

Indoors, Patch was still asleep. One of his toys lay beside the wet basket.
